Your smile is something people notice instantly. The way you use it attracts people’s attention, with positive and negative results. Over time, through your lifestyle (smoking, drinking coffee or wine, for example) and the natural aging process, your teeth can stain.

To get your smile back to looking its best, you should choose a whitening method that:

Achieves the longest-lasting results
Gives you a natural, sparkling white look
Is clinically proven to be safe and effective
Is a treatment recommended by a highly trained dentist

Your teeth can be whitened using a number of different methods however the similarity between all methods is a whitening gel. You will find that the different whitening products have different levels of peroxide in them, depending on their strength.

This gel is applied to your teeth for the specified time frame, removing the stains and dullish shades, revealing your new whiter smile.

The whitening experience you choose will determine the results you can expect and the time frame you will see them in.

YOUR OPTIONS

Barrier Whitening - This can be a highly effective, yet very simple way, of lightening the colour of teeth without removing any of the tooth surface.

Take Home Whitening - For some, being able to whiten their teeth in the comfort of their own home is the perfect solution. At Salcombe Dental Practice, we offer a whitening package that allows just that.

We will create neatly fitted mouth guards that are used as trays for the whitening gel to be placed in. You will be provided with the correct amount of gel along with instructions and a colour chart to witness the amazing change to your teeth.

The whitening mouth guards are normally worn for 2 hour periods, once a day and you may find that if there is no sensitivity you are able to wear them overnight.

This whitening treatment will take around 14 days to complete with the results gradually changing over that period of time.

Occasionally there will be some regression of shade and after 6 months you may need to repeat the use of the trays for 1 -2 weeks.

This will vary from patient to patient, but is easily improved as you will only need to buy extra tubes of whitening gel and so the price is currently approximately £25 for 2 tubes.
